Math One
In the first rotation math class, we are working to become students who can solve problems, who persevere, and who give our best effort every day. We love challenges and always want to learn more about math. Our goal is to learn all we can, plus even more in the time we have at LOI. We will have homework two or three nights a week, but I would prefer if you would limit your child's time to no more than 30 minutes of math work. I do want to challenge your child with homework that will make them think, not just be able to write down quick answers. My goal is to make better problem solvers, not frustrated students, so please let me know if your child is getting overly stressed. If your child does not finish in 30 minutes and you see that more time is not going to help him/her understand it better, please just write me a note to let me know your child has been responsible and tried to complete the work. Students often forget directions or the steps needed to complete math homework and I do not want math to ever create anxiety or tears in my students. If you ever have a question or concern, please email, text, or call me (my number should be in the front of your child's agenda). Students may text me with their questions as well. Communication is key to a student's success.
